Contract proposals...
- A contractor proposal should be very specific in describing all work to be done and the exact products to be used. It should detail from the power washing-preparation phase to the finish phase.
- Major paint companies offer lower priced industrial grade paint and higher priced residential grade paint. What will be used on your home?
- It is not enough to simply state - Sherman Williams paint or any other brand.
It should specifically state: “Twenty-five year warrantee Sherman Williams Super Paint-Latex Acrylic, Satin Finish - in a color of your choice.”
You must know what you are paying for!
- The contract should be specific about the types of finishes and where they will be use, i.e. body, walls, doors, trim, etc.
Finishes: flat, eggshell, satin-low luster, semi-gloss, gloss, high gloss enamel, oil or latex
- Contract pricing. Total amount includes what??
All expenses such as labor, paint, and prep-materials, stains, urethanes, carpentry, labor and materials, and any extra charges for special services must be detailed.
- Billing terms must be specific.
- State approximate dates for work to done if it is known at contract time.
- A signature approval contract page should be included for the customer with 2 copies of the contract - one for the customer to keep, one to sign-date and return to the contractor with the appropriate deposit if required.
